The Science of “Spinning The Block” On “Listen To Black Men”
Reuniting with your ex for another relationship, or āspinning the blockā, is the hot topic of the latest episode of Listen To Black Men.
The latest episode of the popular digital series Listen To Black Men is sure to entertain, as the crew of Mouse Jones, Tyler Chronicles, and Jeremie Rivers sit down to discuss āspinning the blockā, or going back to your ex to rekindle the relationship. This time around, theyāre joined by Rae Holliday and rapper Lil Scrappy along with media personality Loreāl.
Mouse Jones kicked off the conversation with laughs recounting the numerous times heās spun the block, before he and the group ticked off famous couples like Nelly and Ashanti (āthe block-spinning champions!ā) and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez before Loreāl interjected: āLil Scrappy and Erica…Lil Scrappy and Diamondā¦ā, referring to the rapper’s past relationships which surprised everyone in the room. The Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta star was candid about his experiences, saying: āI feel like those two people brought me back to who I am.ā He also spoke about the need to figure himself out outside of a relationship. āBecause at the end of a relationship, I never really did that. I was always on something like if we do something, the person made it to be like that.ā
Loreāl offered a different take on spinning the block. āSo for me, ācause I ride the wheels until they fall off and disintegrate, so I probably hate you if Iām leaving you alone. Spinning the block – if you call me, Iām probably treating you like sāt.ā Rae Holliday shared his perspective, saying: āI exhaust a block. Iām just outside, but Iād never go back to it. I want to learn the lesson, I donāt want to learn it twice.ā The conversation also covered the convenience of spinning the block so as not to add to a person’s “body count”, which Tyler Chronicles mentioned that he had heard was a practice from some women. Lore’l agreed but offered this interpretation where she viewed the past relationship as a “dead body”: “I had to grow up and look at it that way, because the person hasn’t really changed. I’d rather take a chance on somebody new.”
