Who Is Chicago Bears Star Kyler Gordon?

Kyler Gordon is currently a star cornerback for the NFL’s Chicago Bears, but that’s just the culmination of his ongoing journey. The 24-year-old, and Cassius cover star, has a bright future in pro football that’s been bolstered by his epic journey to the league.
Origins
Gordon was born on December 17, 1999 in Mukilteo, Washington. He would go on to attend Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett, Washington, where he starred as a cornerback and wide receiver—and won a state championship as a junior. A stellar high school career led to a commitment to play for the University of Washington’s storied football team. The 6 footer was also a varsity basketball player.
College Game Day
Gordon’s career at Washington started slowly since he only four games as a freshman (2018) before being redshirted. But the next season, he started in four of the 13 games he played, earning an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection. The next season was shorted due to COVID but still managed an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection. 2021 would be his breakout season, after starting all 12 games he was named to the All-Pac-12 first team. Despite another year of eligibility, Gordon declared for the NFL Draft in 2022.
The Big Show
After a strong showing at the NFL combine, Gordon was drafted by the Chicago Bears as the 39th overall pick in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft in 2022. His impact was immediate, recording 71 tackles in 14 games during his rookie season. He’s become one of the franchise’s most popular and consistent players.
Spider Who?Â
Watch enough Gordon highlights and you’ll inevitably hear him called Spider-Man. A longtime fan of the Marvel character since childhood, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus called Gordon “Spider-Man” in 2022, and it stuck. Fully embracing the moniker, he been known to execute a Spider-Man flip and pose as an in-game celebration.
