Scottie Pippen‘s NBA career earnings surpassed $100 million, and that’s not counting his time as an advisor to the Chicago Bulls COO, his sponsorship with Nike, and sales from his book. Still, Pippen is open to another stream of income through a new clothing line.
TMZ broke the news, and just like his 2021 autobiography, the label will be called Unguarded. The menswear line will reportedly incorporate “classic silhouettes with modern thinking” and swap the flashy looks for dependable, wearable, and quality options.
“With Unguarded, we’ve been able to elevate the basics and escape the typical streetwear stereotypes. It’s completely unexpected how incredible this line is,” Pippen said.
The brand’s ethos isn’t just based on the 59-year-old’s sensibilities. He’s working with streetwear fashion designer Cassius Smith, and it’s gotten his daughter Sophia’s approval since she’s teasing a few pieces via a behind-the-scenes post on her Instagram.
Like Pippen mentioned of the brand, Sophia—alongside artist Justice Harper—is pictured wearing basics like dark and light wash jeans, relaxed sweaters, Unguarded-branded hoodies, a denim varsity jacket, hooded jackets, and a cotton set. Pippen has been developing and perfecting the line for about a year and is ready to release the inaugural collection in the summer of 2025.
Pippen last played for the NBA in 2004 for the Chicago Bulls, where he assumed a veteran role for just one season.
He started with the Bulls back in 1987, when he teamed up with Michael Jordan and helped lead the team to six championships. However, their relationship fractured –which Pippen talked about in his memoir Unguarded— because of how a “condescending” Jordan portrayed himself as the hero in ESPN’s 10-part documentary The Last Dance instead of the team as a whole.
Pippen’s son, Scottie Jr., has followed in his father’s footsteps and is now a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging about 12 points a game.
