As the blockbuster lawsuit that has swept up several Fox Sports personalities set social media afire, former Fox personality Shannon Sharpe has so far emerged unscathed. And it seems that he’s also clear of any Diddy-related shenanigans as revealed on his Club Shay Shay podcast.
In the ’90s and 2000s, when Diddy’s parties – both the official celeb-studded events that were memorable for their stellar guest lists – and the undercover ‘freak offs’ that involved sex workers and copious amounts of baby oil, allegedly, Sharpe was an NFL player. However, he played in the pre-social media era from 1990 to 2003, when NFL players were mostly unknown to the general public and the celebrityverse.
“I ain’t that big,” Sharpe, 56, told streaming superstar Kai Cenat on the podcast. “I mean, maybe if I was in the position I’m in now, but back then, no. I don’t get invited to no parties. Plus, I’m a homebody.”
Sharpe won three Super Bowl championships – two with the Denver Broncos and one with the Baltimore Ravens. He was the first tight end to gain 10,000 yards receiving and was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2011. Since then, he’s built a broadcasting career, first as the co-host of Undisputed on Fox Sports and now on First Take as an ESPN personality. He also hosts his own Club Shay Shay podcast, which set records last year with his viral Katt Williams interview, and does Nightcap with former NFL wide receiver Ocho Cinco.
In 2010, while working on The NFL Today on CBS, his career was almost derailed by sexual assault allegations leveled by ex-girlfriend Michele Bundy. Though she was issued a temporary restraining order, it was later dropped. Sharpe is not involved in the lawsuit just filed against his former Undisputed co-host, Skip Bayless. Noushin Faraji, a former hairdresser for Fox Sports, alleges that she was sexually harassed by Bayless, saying that the network created a toxic work environment that encouraged bad behavior from its stars.
“That has nothing to do with me,” Sharpe said on a recent episode of Nightcap. “There’s nothing to address. In those 42 pages, it doesn’t mention that Shannon Sharpe did anything. But you all want to get clicks, so you mention me.”
Sharpe was referenced in the lawsuit but only as someone who Bayless thought was sleeping with Faraji in 2022. Once he found out they were not dating, Bayless allegedly continued to pursue Faraji.
In her lawsuit, Faraji says that coworkers Emmanuel Acho and Joy Taylor are in a relationship and that she was fired when she reported that relationship to HR. She says her friendship with Taylor soured over time and that when she told her about one incident of sexual harassment, Taylor allegedly told her to “Get over it.”
