For many people, attending the Super Bowl is an unforgettable experience. It’s a celebration of football in support of the teams that have proven to be the best. However, for young professionals such as Nicholas Walters and Layla Green, it was far more than just a weekend of sports. Their experiences at the heart of the Super Bowl festivities were more than just rooting for a team; they were also about learning, networking, and stepping out of their comfort zones.
As a junior at South Carolina State University, Nicholas Walters, an intern with iOneDigital working alongside The Fumble, described his Super Bowl experience as revolutionary. It was an opportunity to immerse himself in a new place, network with industry leaders, and improve his artistry. “I’m enjoying every little second of it,” he said.
Layla Green, a freshman at Dillard University, found her Super Bowl experience valuable. As an intern with HBCU Endzone, she spent the week capturing content and interacting with NFL players to promote HBCU culture. Layla believed that her time at an HBCU had directly contributed to her ability to participate in such a significant event.
She stated, “I don’t think I would have gotten this opportunity if I went anywhere else,” a testament to the unique advantages of HBCU experiences. With great appreciation, Layla sees her experience as a stepping stone for her career aspirations.
Through these rising stars, their experiences remind us that the Super Bowl has proven to be a powerful catalyst for making a mark in the world.
