Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is drowning in sexual assault lawsuits, and now he’s trying to flip the script.
The Hip-Hop mogul’s downfall is one of the most shocking in history, which has led to an onslaught of media coverage, including documentaries.
Of the networks putting together long-form content about his alleged sexual deviancy is NBC, with its Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy documentary, which is currently available to stream on Peacock.
“The documentary delves into Diddy’s early years, his transformation from Sean Combs to Puffy and Diddy, the forces that shaped him, his childhood, music career, and the recent allegations of sexual misconduct, challenging perceptions,” reads the 90-minute documentary’s synopsis
Unhappy about the continuous dirt being piled on his name, Diddy has filed a $100 million lawsuit against the documentary regarding parts that discussed ex-girlfriend Kim Porter’s death –with whom he shares three kids– and his alleged involvement.
“It shamelessly advances conspiracy theories that lack any foundation in reality, repeatedly insinuating that Mr. Combs is a serial killer because it cannot be a ‘coincidence’ that multiple people in Mr. Combs’s orbit have died in a malicious attempt to insinuate that Mr. Combs murdered them,” the complaint reads, according to the New York Times.
In the civil lawsuit filed Wednesday, Diddy’s lawyer, Erica Wolff, said the parties behind the suit used the doc to “maliciously and recklessly broadcast outrageous lies” to “line their own pockets.”
One of the key points of the documentary that suggests that Porter’s death may have been foul play came during an interview with Al B. Sure, who also shares a child with Porter and talks about seeing her before her passing.
“It was two, three weeks prior to her murder — am I supposed to say ‘allegedly’?” he said in the documentary.
An official autopsy says that Porter died on Nov. 15, 2018, in California of pneumonia. However, the 47-year-old’s cause of death was deferred and wasn’t confirmed until January 2019.
The documentary also toys with the idea that Diddy also had a part in Biggie’s death, who was murdered in a still-unsolved drive-by shooting in 1997.
The lawsuit also refutes the claims specifically made by Courtney Burgess –who Diddy previously filed a $50 million defamation suit against– who said that he’d possessed video of Diddy sexually assaulting minors.
