During the Boston Celtics 110-103 win against the Denver Nuggets, the hardwood wasn’t the only place fans saw superstar Jayson Tatum.
The 27-year-old appeared in a commercial for Amica Insurance, the Celtics’ official auto, home, and life insurance partner. In the second installment in a series of commercials, the notoriously private Tatum pulled back the curtains a bit to reveal some details and acknowledged his son with Ella Mai.
Born last summer, the couple only showed him once in a celebratory photoshoot after Team USA‘s men’s basketball gold medal win in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
We don’t see the baby in the commercial, but we see Tatum relaxing in dad mode.
It begins with a mock post-game presser, where a reporter asks him, “What keeps you going?” which launches him into a daydream.
The commercial then shows him cleaning up baby toys scattered around his home before he answers the door for his mom, Brandy Cole. The mother-son duo then playfully trash talk as Tatum gets up a few shots on a mini hoop, which his mom jokes about him missing.
“Grandma really taught me how to shoot, anyway,” he responds. But then the chat gets interrupted when a baby’s cries can be heard on the baby monitor between them.
The NBA champ then snaps back into reality, and after a pensive stare, he answers the question, “Knowing who I do it for.”
Then it cuts back to the house’s entryway, showing three pairs of the Jordan Tatum 3 in the Zen Platinum colorway, belonging to Tatum, his eldest son Deuce, and his son with Ella Mai.
“I’m thrilled to partner with Amica given our shared values,” Tatum said in a press release. “I really enjoyed working with them to share this important message about protecting what matters, and I’m so glad my mom could be a part of it.”
According to PEOPLE, Mai and Tatum have been linked since 2020. They’ve never publicly revealed their relationship but have been spotted together a handful of times. Relationship rumors first began to float when they were seen together at Michael Rubin‘s Fourth of July Party in 2022. Last summer, she was also seen rocking his jersey at the TD Garden as he won his first NBA Championship.
