Mercedes-Benz is looking to raise the stakes when it comes to electric vehicles. They have unveiled their new CLA Sedan, which is poised to change the EV category.
As spotted in The New York Times, the German automobile brand has finally raised the curtains on its much-anticipated CLA EV Sedan. This model seemingly takes the electric car to new heights with a focus on refinement, comfort, user experience, efficiency, and, of course, luxury touches. From a performance perspective, the CLA 350 4MATIC flexes 349 horsepower, which gets it from 0 to 60 in just 4.8 seconds.

In terms of efficiency, this release boasts an 800-volt electric architecture paired with a new-generation battery. The new battery effectively also reduces the carbon footprint by approximately 30 percent per cell compared to the previous version. This results in a charge range of up to 325 kilometers as fast as 10 minutes. There’s also DC fast charging up to 320 kW, adding yet another element to Mercedes’ push to make electric cars the norm in less than a decade.
“If the world is not dominant electric by 2030, we as Mercedes-Benz, as an established manufacturer, we cannot walk away from a significant part of our revenues,” Ola Källenius, the chief executive of Mercedes, said in an interview in Rome. “So, indeed, you could call it a hedge.”
Additionally, this CLA is the brand’s first model to fully operate on the newly developed Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS).
To celebrate the momentous occasion, Mercedes-Benz held an invite-only event in Rome. Some of the celebrity tastemakers in the house included A$AP Nast, Ice Spice, and Will.i.am.
The new CLA is scheduled to be released stateside later this year. While the price hasn’t been announced, the current version is around $45,000 and should be just as affordable.
