Wendy Williams is bringing a legal heavy hitter to her defense. She has hired A$AP Rocky‘s lawyer to oversee her guardianship battle.

Wendy Williams has requested Joe Tacopina to represent her with regard to her ongoing legal guardianship.

This week, the high-powered attorney spoke to NewsNation and revealed that he is officially on retainer. “Yes, I am representing her, I’m her personal attorney right now. I will be entering the case one way or another, but it’s a convoluted process,” he explained. “The last thing they want to do is see my face in that courtroom.”

Back in March, he was a guest on the 2 Angry Men podcast, spoke on the documentary Saving Wendy, and referred to her situation as “a true injustice.”

Back in 2022, Wells Fargo bank froze her accounts and requested that the New York Supreme Court review whether or not she was in need of guardianship due to concerns of her potentially being a “incapacitated person.”

From there, she was assigned a court-appointed guardian to oversee her finances and well-being. In February 2024, her representatives announced she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Since then, Wendy Williams has been housed in a assisted living facility.

In an effort to get released from the guardianship, Wendy Williams has been conducting interviews with high-profile media outlets stating that she is perfectly fine. She most recently dropped a note from the window of the facility that read “Help! Wendy!!” She was then taken by local authorities to a medical facility where she passed an exam that tested her cognitive skills.
