Celebrate Jordan Brand’s 40th Anniversary With New ‘Air Jordan’ Coffee Table Book
After decades dominating sports and fashion culture, Jordan Brand’s got a story to tell. Naturally, in collaboration with Jordan Brand and Michael Jordan himself, Assouline has announced a book about their intertwined journey of success, aptly titled Air Jordan. Now, the sport of basketball and Jordan’s domination throughout the ’90s heavily influenced His Airness’ influence; the book isn’t about the Xs and Os. Let Jordan —who wrote the foreword— tell it himself, “Sorry to disappoint you, but this is not a book about the game of basketball. Instead, it’s a celebration. A celebration of 40 years of greatness.”

The book’s text will be penned by Adam Bradley, who was tasked with highlighting “the legacy of design, innovation, artistry, and cultural influence of the Brand and the man himself. Embodying the spirit of greatness, the book features rare materials from Nike’s private corporate archives alongside exclusive images of Michael Jordan’s personal keepsakes, clothing, and memorabilia.”
There will also be never-before-published photos of Jordan, captured by Annie Leibovitz, through the book’s six chapters— a nod to his two championship-winning three-peats.
Now 40 years into the culture-bending collaboration between the GOAT and Nike, there’s Howard “H” White and Larry Miller, along with Jordan Brand president Sarah Mensah, aboard to help tell the story.
Additionally, those who helped carry the Jordan Brand torch into the next generation of sports will also share their perspectives, including Carmelo Anthony, Napheesa Collier, Luka Dončić, Jalen Hurts, Jayson Tatum, and filmmaker Spike Lee.

There are two editions of the book, starting with The Classic Collection, which features a white cover with Jordan in the Jumpman pose, wearing a pair of 7s. This edition will run you $123.
Next up is The Ultimate Collection, designed for those who are more serious about Jordan’s history. Limited to 1,000 hand-numbered copies, this edition features a leather cover that pays homage to the intricate leather details of the Jordan 20. Priced at $ 2,300, it also comes with an Italian silk scarf featuring the Jumpman symbol.
