The MTV VMAs were pushed back a day so the world could collectively watch the (extremely entertaining) Presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Despite being a day late, the New York-hosted show delivered. It included performances from Anitta, Eminem, Glorilla, LL Cool J, Megan Thee Stallion, and Lenny Kravitz, assisted by Quavo.

LL Cool J had one of the most electric showings when he celebrated the 40th anniversary of Def Jam Records by tapping Flavor Flav and Chuck D for performances.

Performing aside, Meg was also the night’s host and prior to the festivities she explained why she’s so hyped for the award show.

“I’m excited to change clothes 500 times. I’m excited to perform. I’m excited to see all the Hotties,” Megan told PEOPLE. “I love New York, I can’t wait to be there again and eat all the food, and I’m excited for people to see what I bring to the table while hosting.”

Among all of her outfit changes were her peers putting together their own masterful looks as they walked the red carpet.

Below, get into some of the best and worst looks from the 2024 MTV VMAs and reactions to some of the big moments.

1. Lenny Kravitz

60-year-old legend Lenny Kravitz arrived on the VMA’s red carpet as one would expect. He donned a leather jacket, matching studded belt, and skinny bell-bottomed jeans. Shirtless, he wore a leather tie with a giant pendant in the middle. He broke up the fit with a pair of patent leather heeled boots.

His silver jewelry accents the fit, not to mention the matching moon man he won for Best Rock song, ‘Human.’

2. Lil Nas X

If Lil Nas X’s inspiration was the pink Power Rangers, he pulled it off. He updated the costume with horns on the side of his helmet, an embellished belt, and a cropped top. He finished the bold pink fit with matching nails, of course.

3. Shaboozey

Shaboozey is not only taking over the Black Country music space; he even keeps up the look. Strolling the VMA carpet, he wore a western shirt with a matching skinny black tie. Below, he had on a fresh pair of dark denim jeans sitting atop a pair of Margiela Tabi boots. He kept it chill on the accessories with shades and a silver wallet chain.

4. Quavo

Quavo collaborated with Lenny Kravitz on his recent remix of his 1990s hit, ‘Fly Away,’ and he may have gotten some style tips from the rock god. He wore an all-black satin suit with a matching tank top below. Like Kravitz, he wore shades, bell-bottomed pants, and a statement boot.

Adding his own flavor, Quavo wore grills and diamond-encrusted rings, bracelets, and rings.

5. Big Sean

Big Sean always keeps it classic with a bit of a spin. On the red carpet, he wore a dark suit with a crisp white button-up beneath. But he dressed it down with a tailored loose fit, sans tie, a few buttons up to show some chains and drawstring pants.

Megan Thee Stallion took over hosting duties this year. The beauty of that is tons of outfit changes, so you’re free to experiment, and that she did on the red carpet. She wore a corset-like gown with a bob for a very simple look paired with sheer stockings, and the bottom of her dress was flared out.

Tinashe’s en route to a well-deserved resurgence after jumping onto the scene a decade ago. And for the woman who’s been asking people to match her freak for the past few months, she showed out. The singer wore a plunging neckline, baring a midriff with a heavy metal chain atop. She kept it lowkey on the bottom with a mermaid skirt.
