Since 2019, Roc Nation has been in charge of entertainment and social justice activism within the NFL. And what better way to keep the partnership going than keeping it all in the family?
Jay-Z didn’t wait for the Super Bowl to have a megastar grace the stage for the halftime show, as Christmas Day also makes a great platform, especially when it’s his wife Beyoncé performing in her hometown of Houston, Texas.
Plus, the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game at NRG Stadium was already dragging along as Lamar Jackson was already ahead 17-2 at the half, so some excitement was needed.
Finally, it was time for Beyoncé to perform at what turned into a mini Cowboy Carter concert. It began with her emerging on horseback —accompanied by country singers Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, and Reyna Roberts— singing ’16 Carriages’ before hopping into other tracks like her cover of The Beatles’ “Blackbird.”
Then, it was time for more guests, including Post Malone for their collaboration ‘Levii’s Jeans’ and Shaboozey for his feature on ‘Spaghettii.’ One of the biggest cameos, though, was her daughter Blue Ivy, who joined in a line dance as her mother sang ‘Ya Ya.’
Known as a showwoman, she hopped off a horse and later sat atop a convertible car that circled the field. The entire time, she was backed by the HBCU Texas Southern ‘Ocean of Soul’ marching band.
“Merry Christmas, God bless y’all, thank you so much,” she said at the end of the 13-minute set.
However, that wasn’t the end of what she had in store for Christmas surprises.
She took to Instagram to post a dimly lit video atop a horse and waving an American flag, which ended with the date Jan. 14, 2025. No one is sure what exactly is in store for that date, but that didn’t stop fans from going crazy on social media in anticipation of new music, a tour, or just about anything.
