The house that Walt is bringing one of the culture’s greatest minds into the building. Disney has hired Bobby Kim, better known as Bobby Hundreds to Vice President of Creative.
As spotted on Hypebeast the co-founder of the influential streetwear brand The Hundreds has been tapped by Disney Consumer Products for a new role. Originally launched in 2003, the label would not only go on to be very popular but would also help define street culture. After a historic run their store located on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles was shut down last month. It seems the move was well thought out as he will put all his focus in overseeing the creative strategy for all consumer facing products and experiences for Disney.
Marcus Rosie, Disney’s Senior Vice President of Global Creative detailed his enthusiasm about Bobby Hundreds joining the team in a formal statement.
“With more than 20 years of experience, Bobby’s creativity and cultural influence transcends fashion,” says Rosie. “His commitment to innovation and authenticity makes him the ideal candidate to lead our Americas creative teams, as we continue to surprise and delight consumers through our licensed, theme parks and Disney Store businesses.”
The streetwear legend took to Instagram to break the news, sharing a picture of himself gripping a Mickey Mouse doll. Alongside was a caption that included a Walt Disney quote that read, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
This is not the first time Bobby has worked with Disney. Back in 2008, The Hundreds released a capsule collection that reimagined the Lost Boys from Peter Pan. That was just the beginning of the West Coast’s collaboration with Disney, which continued in 2012 with Marvel’s The Punisher, Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 2017, and two Star Wars collaborations in 2023 and 2024.
