As fans are still waiting for Cardi B to deliver a much-anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, she’s making sure she’s still delivering, just in a different way.
The rapper has announced that she’s launching a new venture with Revolve Group, beginning with her own beauty line and fashion brand.
In speaking to WWD on Tuesday, April 1, Cardi announced the move. She promised she knows what potential consumers are expecting when her name is attached to a product,Ā and credits her love of shopping and attention to detail as reasons why you can expect top-notch yet approachable goods.
āI could shop every single day, but thereās always that one pair of jeans that I love. Thereās that tank top that I love, and I donāt care how many stains are on it, Iām gonna wear it, because I just love it. I want my brand to have that one piece that you buy, that you love, that it makes sense. If itās a size small, it should be a true size small; if itās a size large, it should be a true size large,ā she said. āThat is very important to me, because I donāt think about me, now, I think about me when I was 20 years old. Iām walking in Fordham [Plaza]; itās six oāclock and I have a date at nine. āWhat is gonna fit me?ā I want something that fits me; itās great, and itās good quality. I could wash it and wash it and wash it, and it doesnāt get washed out.”
Plus, she’s already got some experience thanks to noteworthy endorsements, like MAC Cosmetics, a previous line with Fashion Nova, a partnership with Reebok, and fronting Marc Jacobs’ fall 2024 campaign.
The Bronx, New York native may be one of the most successful female rappers, but she sees the new brand expansion as a way to ensure she’s got some assets to leave her kids, something she says is rooted in having immigrant parents.
āI have a big career, Iām a big artist and everything. But itās about what you have to [leave] behind,” she adds. āIt doesnāt suffice how many number-one [hits] I have, or how big my name is. I mean, I am a legend, but if god forbid something happens to me, I donāt want my kids to be fighting with record labels on how much percent theyāre going to get with my music.”
Last November, she hinted that her “secret business” would be unveiled and her sophomore album would be released, too. So, with the new brand going public, the music should be next up on her 2025 checklist.
