Born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., but professionally known as DDG, has called it quits with Halle Bailey.
The young couple has been publicly dating since 2022 and shares a son named Halo. But the Youtuber and rapper announced they’d broken up on social media.
“After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “The decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best part forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we shared.”
DDG admits there’s no bad blood between him and his former partner, adding that they’re still close, but their main focus is now raising their young son.
“Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true,” DDG continued. “We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared. As we navigate this transition, we ask for your understanding and support.”
Bailey has yet to publicly comment on the break with her more than 9 million Instagram followers. Plus, this could all be an elaborate joke dreamed up by DDG for content because he’s known for his pranks on TikTok and his vlog channel on YouTube.
The two had very public relationships, with Bailey often appearing in videos he posted to social media. Her fans were initially behind the relationship, but their opinion of him began to sour when he undercut her achievement amid the praise she was getting for her leading role in The Little Mermaid.
He said he’d never see the original movie, later admitting that it came from a place of insecurity and he wasn’t even comfortable with her kissing other men on camera.
