We’re just a few years removed from the happy couple that was Halle Bailey and DDG, but now it appears the thoughts of a reconciliation are out of reach.
During their short-lived relationship, the two welcomed a son named Halo. They have since maintained a cordial co-parenting relationship and the kid is constantly being shown on DDG’s streams.
However, in one of the rapper’s latest streams, he expresses that handling custody of the 1-year-old has been challenging because he hasn’t been able to see his son freely.
“I don’t get the chance to be a dad when I want to be a dad. I don’t give a f-ck about hanging around no girls. I want to be around my son, you feel me?” DDG says. “But since I can’t be around my son, I’m obviously going to work. I’m not going to sit in the crib, look at the wall, and cry about it.”
While the personal moment seemed to come out of nowhere, it seems to have been because Halo is sick, and DDG is unable to see him despite traveling for hours to see him.
“I’m trying to see him. Trying to get him to come over. I never get him dropped off; I always go pick him up. And I live far as sh-t, so I’m driving hours to go get him, and then I get there, and I can’t get him. I can’t see him. My son is sick right now. I want to see my son; I want to hold my son. I just want to comfort him. I don’t get the chance to do that; I get pinned against the wall, and then everything else is variables on why I can’t see my son.”
The rapper said he was “kicked out of the crib” when he arrived and feels like a secondary parent.
He continues, saying that he doesn’t even know the name of the nanny that’s been carrying for Halo, adding that he’s being bullied for trying to be a present father.
Word of a custody dispute was first floated in a since-deleted tweet from Friday, when he tweeted, “been fighting to see my son for months now… shoutout to all the Dads who try their best to be there. This sh-t sucks.”
