Looks like Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning quarterback Jalen Hurts scored more than one ring this year because he’s also a married man. In his new Men’s Health cover story, Hurts told the magazine that by the time it was published, they could reveal to the world that he and his fianceé are actually husband and wife.
Hurts, 26, was named the Super Bowl LIX MVP. He didn’t share any more revelations about his personal life in the article, instead talking about his philosophy on winning and revealing some of his training and diet strategies. Sharp-eyed fans noticed that Hurts has been wearing a wedding ring for some months, including to Super Bowl LIX.
The couple announced their engagement via Essence in September 2024, sharing a blissful shot on the beach at what looked like a proposal shoot. Burrows and Hurts met at the University of Alabama, dating quietly through his transfer to Oklahoma and being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. Hurts left Alabama a year after being benched in favor of Tua Tagovailoa in the 2018 National College Football Championship, which the Tide ultimately won. He often references it as a life-changing moment.
In 2023, Hurts signed a $255M contract negotiated by Nicole Lynn, the first Black female agent to negotiate a deal that big. He was the highest-paid QB in NFL history at the time, but his record-breaking contract was soon eclipsed by other signal-callers, including Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.
Aside from his NFL career, Hurts is a college graduate who holds a master’s degree…and so does his wife. He is a University of Alabama graduate with a master’s in human relations from the University of Oklahoma. Burrows has an undergrad degree from Alabama in Spanish and political science and an MBA from the school.
Both represent the Divine 9 – the historic group of five Black fraternities and four sororities. Burrows, reportedly a Georgia native, is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, and Hurts is in Omega Psi Phi, something he subtly referenced with his vivid purple Super Bowl LIX suit. The couple is known for charitable endeavors – Hurts provided more than $200,000 to buy air conditioning units for Philadelphia public schools last year. Burrows has been a coach helping underprivileged minority women prepare for STEM careers at her company, IBM, where she’s employed as an artificial intelligence partner.
During her time as a WAG, Burrows has notably avoided some of the stereotypes surrounding them. She doesn’t have a public social media page, nor does she wear outfits emblazoned with Hurts’ name, his number, or team colors. At Super Bowl LIX, her game-day fit was a matching top and skirt that very subtly included the Eagles logo.
The couple’s first major red carpet moment was the Time 100 “Next” event in 2024. Now, Hurts has been named one of the magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.
The quarterback arrived at the Men’s Health shoot with a note from Burrows in his pocket that read, “You are exactly where you are supposed to be. I love you. Follow God! I follow you.”
Social media users, however, has had a crush on Hurts for years and is pretty upset that he’s put a ring on it.
