The hits just keep coming for Jamie Foxx.
The actor and comedian suffered a stroke last year, so celebrating another birthday when turning 57 is a big deal, but even that couldn’t go off without a hitch.

At his Dec. 13 birthday dinner, he was seated with his family—including daughters Corinne Foxx, Anelise Bishop, and ex-Kristen Grannis—at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills when he reportedly got into a feud with someone at a different table.
Beverly Hills police were called, arriving around 10:05 p.m. to defuse the situation. However, it was initially reported that they were responding to “reports of a deadly weapon,” but that was refuted once they arrived on the scene, so no one was arrested, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery,” the release stated.
The report didn’t mention Foxx by name, but his representative came out to explain that he was hit with a glass in the face so severely he had to get stitches.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” said a rep. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
The comedian didn’t directly address the issue but did post a message on Instagram for those wishing for his safety: “The devil is busy, but I’m too blessed to be stressed.”
The text was accompanied by a caption that read in part, “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright.”
He finished the note by promoting his new Netflix comedy special, What Had Happened Was, and asking people to stream it because it came “from my heart and my soul.”
The special release was just a few days ago as Foxx addresses the medical emergency he suffered last year, cracking jokes after revealing he had a stroke resulting from a brain bleed.
