Tony Buzbee may have dropped the lawsuit accusing Jay-Z of raping a 13-year-old in 2000, but the legal proceedings are just starting to fire up.
Born Shawn Carter, he vehemently denied the allegations from the beginning, calling them “baseless.” He has now turned the tables and is suing the woman, only known as Jane Doe, for defamation. He accuses her and her attorneys of malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy.

“These are the only truthful and fair descriptions of Jane Doe’s and her lawyers’ malevolent efforts to assassinate the impeccable and lifetime-earned character of Shawn Corey Carter, who is professionally known as Jay-Z, but more importantly is known as dad, and husband, and son – and a human being who did nothing to deserve or elicit the wanton, depraved attack…,” the suit reads.
The 24-page filing accuses Doe and her legal team of attempting to extort him ever since the private demand letter was issued last November in hopes of settling out of court.
The lawsuit explains that Doe had months to recant the claims but was strung along by her lawyers, who allegedly hoped for a big payday. When Jay-Z and his lawyers realized the inconsistencies in Doe’s claim –like her father not corroborating her story or being unable to recount the residence she was assaulted in properly– he filed court motions against her, but she never dropped the suit.
Even as the case appeared to fall apart because it seemed invalid, Jay’s legal team added that Buzbee still decided to appear on TMZ and continue to push falsehoods, saying that Doe was “not ruling out filing rape charges.”
Despite the initial lawsuit being dismissed, Jay-Z claims that his business dealings suffered, to the tune of him losing $20 million in addition to “emotional harm, humiliation, and harassment.”
As the tables have flipped between Jay-Z and Buzbee’s Jane Doe, see how social media is reacting.
