Week one of the 2024 NFL season isn’t over, but we already know who will perform at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show.
In a video that lasted barely a minute, Kendrick Lamar announced that he’ll be taking the stage in February 2025 in New Orleans.
A backdrop shows an American flag while Lamar stands on a football field and places balls in a passing machine to make his announcement while talking to an unknown receiver.
“My name’s Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX. Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos,” he says.
He adds the official date to ensure fans tune in and wants everyone to be prepared for the performance.
“I won’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans. Feb. 9, 2025,” he adds. “Wear your best dressed, too, even if you watch it from home.”
Jay Z‘s Roc Nation has been working with the NFL since a partnership was formed in 2019. Roc Nation’s entertainment leg was tasked with being tastemakers and basically figuring out who would perform at future Super Bowl halftime shows.
