The National Fraternal Order of Police has predictably endorsed 34-time felon Donald Trump as president. And it is predictable. Trump could have been convicted on every state and federal charge leveled against him in the last few years, including his pending RICO charges in Georgia, and that largest police union in the country would still be endorsing the criminal who promised to give the nation’s police officers outright “immunity from prosecution” if he is elected to the White House once again.
Trump accepted the union’s endorsement in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday when he pledged to “back the blue,” declared that if he’s elected president, his administration “might over-fund the police,” and — because no Trumpaganda speech would be complete without it — he continued to lie about election fraud costing him the 2020 presidential race and encourage police officers to “watch for voter fraud” that simply does not exist in U.S. elections.
“I hope you watch for voter fraud,” Trump said. “It starts early. It starts in a week. …. Believe it or not, they’re afraid of that badge. They’re afraid of you people. I hope you can watch.”
For what it’s worth, some police officers in North Carolina aren’t so happy with the former president and they have no confidence that he’s really in their corner.
From NC Newsline:
Durham County Sheriff Clarence Birkhead said in a call with reporters that the former president “can’t be trusted to deliver on his promises” to law enforcement.
“He would waste precious time and money on his personal grievances instead of pouring valuable resources into communities like mine that rely on our federal partners,” Birkhead said.
Birkhead was also joined by Harry Dunn, a former Capitol Police officer who was present at the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and has been outspoken against Trump since.
“He doesn’t care that he put my life and the lives of my fellow Capitol Police officers in danger on Jan. 6,” Dunn said. “He only cares about getting power for himself.”
Oh yeah — we haven’t forgotten Jan. 6, even if the cop-aganda union has.
People all over social media are pointing out the hypocrisy of the nation’s largest and most powerful police union endorsing Trump, not just because Trump is a convicted felon, but because, as a sitting president, he incited the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, during which Capitol police officers were viciously attacked by Trump’s rabid supporters, who he also lied to about voter fraud costing him reelection.
