NFL games. But recently, some robbers felt a bit more emboldened when they spotted a
New York Jets player.
The player’s name hasn’t been released, but according to
ESPN, he and his wife were followed for more than 30 miles as they drove from Manhattan to their home in the New Jersey suburb of Windmill Pond on an early Saturday morning earlier this month.
When they arrived at their home, that’s when the gun-toting assailants approached them and robbed them before eventually taking off.

The Morris Town Department of Public Safety took to its
Facebook account to recount the alleged crime, which was watched by several eyewitnesses in the neighborhood who all called the police.
“On Saturday, February 15th, at approximately 8:00 am, the Morristown Bureau of Police responded to several 911 calls reporting an alleged armed robbery in the Windmill Pond section of town. A witness reported seeing a group of unidentified males exit a dark-colored SUV and rob two individuals in a second vehicle at gunpoint. The suspects allegedly took money and personal items before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported,” the department’s statement read. “At this time, it is believed this was an isolated incident, as it appears the victims were targeted and followed from Manhattan.”
The robbers are still on the loose, but the authorities are gathering evidence and attempting to uncover surveillance of the robbery to identify the suspects.
“To be honest, I cannot make sense of what happened. I saw them take something from the garage – I was thinking, ‘Oh my God, this is a robbery,'” one woman told
NBC New York.
The robbery comes just after a string of affluent athletes getting their homes robbed, including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback
Patrick Mahomes, tight end
Travis Kelce, Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow, and the NBA’s Bobby Porter.
