Nike Officially Unveils Ja Morant’s Newest Signature Sneaker

As if he needed a new one, Ja Morant’s got another reason to roll through his long list of celebrations.
It was game one of the Western Conference playoffs against the Oklahoma City Thunder when the Memphis Grizzlies superstar donned his latest Nike sneaker, dubbed the Ja 3. Now, Nike is officially unveiling the signature kicks.
Like Morant’s style of play, the shoes are bold yet have the performance capabilities to back it up.
It starts by highlighting the scratch designs seen on his previous models along the entire upper, culminating in his logo cleverly being spotted on the side, with a vertical swoosh representing the first letter of his name.
For Morant, Nike delivered in the shoe’s design aspect, which is embedded with his NBA DNA.
“I told the Nike design team I needed something that talks before I even lace it up,” Morant said in the press release. “I wanted my third signature shoe to feel like my game and my personality. I told them, ‘Don’t be scared. Push it. Make it rugged, make it different.’ And they ran with it.”
There are also more personal nods specific to Morant, including the right sole, which reads, “A happy Ja is a scary Ja,” and the left, “I’m not even worried about proving them wrong.”

Style aside, the design beneath is what really counts, as the lightweight mesh below the scratch design is perforated for added breathability. It sits atop a full-length combination of ZoomX foam layered over ZoomX to support Morant’s cuts and quick moves equally.
His ability to switch speeds is also aided by “a new micro-traction outsole” that keeps Morant grounded as he leads his team through the postseason. A closer look reveals that the outsole is comprised of mini versions of his logo.
Morant has already noticed how the shoe adapts to his style of play.
“I’m reading the game way better now — slowing it down when I need to, attacking when I see the opening,” Morant said. “The Ja 3 matches that. It’s got that balance: Speed when I need it, control when I need to switch gears.”
No exact release date has been announced, but Nike promises they’ll be available sometime this fall.
