More than 30 years into the music industry, Shakira is still finding new ways to grow her star power.
Today (Feb. 2), she has a lot to be thankful for. It’s her 48th birthday, and she’s also performing at the 67th annual Grammy Awards.
Her Grammy return is topped by her nomination for Best Latin Pop Album for her 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which dropped in March 2024.
She took to Instagram to give a sneak peek at her rehearsing for her moment on stage, doing the signature hip pop she’s famous for and another shot that shows her on her knees, bending back, and showing off her toned physique.
“I’m coming back to the Grammys stage and on my birthday! See you tomorrow night,” reads the caption.
As she enters a new year, she’s been one of the most significant sex symbols in Latin music, partially thanks to her doing her own version of belly dancing throughout her dozens of music videos.
In fact, she said in an old interview that she feels sexiest when interpreting her own music and dancing.
Then, in a 2014 interview with Women’s Health, she opened up more about when she feels most confident, explaining that it’s not always about looks.
“I never thought that someone would ask me, ‘How do you manage to be irresistibly sexy.’ I laugh because I don’t see myself that way at all,” she said. “I think it’s a state of mind. If you’re in peace. If you’re happy where you are in life, I think you project that, and that’s sexy. I think there’s nothing sexier than a smile – a genuine smile. Spontaneity, being yourself, and not trying too hard, I think that’s sexy.”
