The Atlanta rapper, born Jeffrey Lamar Williams, was arrested in 2022 and had been facing a
56-count Georgia RICO as well as illegal substance and firearms charges amounting to potentially 120 years in prison.
But thanks to a new plea deal, he has been released from the law’s custody, agreeing to six charges, including illegal firearm possession and participation in criminal street gang activity, but not the RICO charge and leading a criminal street gang masked as a record label, YSL.
However, he’s not being freed with no strings attached. The plea’s details include Thugger being sentenced to 40 years in prison. He’s getting out with time served, and the rest of those years are broken down into 15 years of probation. He can also face an additional 20 years if he violates his probation.

For the first 10 years of probation, he’s not allowed in the metropolitan Atlanta area except for weddings, funerals, and graduations– but only for two days at a time. He must also be a more positive influence on the city by participating in four anti-gang and anti-gun presentations a year and performing 100 hours of community service a year. He also can’t be in contact with any gang members or co-defendants in the YSL RICO case, save for his brother Quantavious Grier and
Gunna.
After accepting the plea deal and full responsibility for his crimes, he addressed his family, friends, and Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, asking if she’d let him go home.
“I am a good guy, and I really got a good heart,” he said. “I find myself in a lot of stuff because I was just nice or cool, you know, and I understand that you can’t be that way when you reach a certain height because it could end bad,” he said, according to CNN. ” I hope you allow me to go home and do the right thing.”
